On-site non-profit partner:
the Ecology center
EUSD Farm Lab is collaborating with the Ecology Center (San Juan Capistrano, CA) to develop the entire ten acre site. With a joint-use agreement this public/private partnership will expand and elevate the EUSD program of environmental and nutritional education. This partnership will also bring greater opportunities for expanded learning to students, families and the wider community and, subsequently, a greater impact on public health. Additionally, this relationship will assist the EUSD program to expand by generating new avenues of financial support.
Plans include:
• Expanded farming.
• A welcome dome entry, pathways and community gathering places.
• Educational kiosks.
• The Ecology Center's mobile ecological experience, “Road Trip” docked on-site.
• A courtyard featuring demonstration raised garden and harvest and propagation tables.
• Site and neighborhood beautification featuring trees, bioswale, and native plants.
